I think the halo story line beat you in a back alley with the smart ass stick.....note your last comment..

Beside that, this is fantastic for me! Being that I am still in need of a PS3 and already have a PS2. I agree thrill some of these choices are odd to say the least, but more than exceptable.
Tekken I am on the way!

I'm interested in the PS3. This new price point of entry is very attractive. Probably by next summer I'll own one. Backwards compatability is not an issue for me as I have never owned a PS2.

To me, the new PS3 is a viable option.

I'll be honest. I don't keep old games. I trade them in. Why?

I remember playing WWE Smackdown 1 on Playstation. Then I remember playing WWE Smackdown: Bring the Pain on the Playstation 2.

Playing the old Playstation games was HORRIBLE! The graphics were ridiculous and the gameplay not as fine tuned.

You're right. Loads of people scream about backwards compatiblity, but nobody uses it. I mean come on, the Xbox and Playstation 2 are only $100 now.

Go mod yourself one of the consoles and get your fix if necessary.

There are only a handful of games worthy of being replayed anyway.

Okay...this is where my inner Sony fanboy kicks in. I think Sony is super smart about dropping this backwards compatiblity crap.

We both know we played Tekken online without lag and had the full versions on our consoles without having to worry about sticking a disc in?

Also take into account that the hard drive is swappable. You can upgrade the hard drive to any size you please.

To me, Sony has made it simple. You can simply download old games you want to play straight to your hard drive so why do you need emulation software?

As you can see, Hitachi is making 100 GB Blu-Ray discs. Who's to say that Sony might re-release all the God of War games on 1 ....YES I SAID 1 100 GB disc all fully upscaled and reanimated for the Playstation 3?

Personally, soon as Blu-Ray became the standard format for the Playstation 3 and the hard drive playback proved stable , backwards compatiblity become utterly pointless.

As for the new cheaper PS3 with less features, there's not a single feature they cut out that I actually used.

The only reason they discontinued the 20 GB was because it was too expensive. If it would have been $399, Sony would be rolling in the bank by now.

Regardless, I will be buying a Silver 40 GB PS3 when / or I do decide jump back into fray. It does everything I need it to do.
